the 7/10 goal.
Picture a scale from 1 to 10.
- 1/10: So easy you could finish it today.
- 10/10: Feels completely impossible.
- 7/10: Just within reach if you went for it — despite the fear, the hesitation, the voice telling you you’re not ready.
The 7/10 goal is where growth lives. It’s big enough to matter, but close enough to touch. It’s the project you can’t quite shake from your mind. The race you’re nervous to sign up for. The pitch that makes your stomach drop.
Lately, I’ve been taking part in Ali Abdaal’s $1k Challenge. Every week has a goal that feels just outside my comfort zone. And every week, I’m convinced I won’t hit it. But then, somehow, usually hours before the deadline, I pull it off. It’s stressful, yes, but also proof: the gap between “I can’t” and “I did” is often just a little push.
Hitting a 7/10 goal changes you. It reminds you you’re more capable than you think. And once you’ve done one, the next one feels like a 5.
Aim too low, and you get bored. Aim too high, and you freeze. Aim for 7, and you move.
This Week’s Prompt:
What’s your current 7/10 goal and what’s one small step you can take toward it today?
Your future self is waiting at the finish line.
See you next Sunday,
Arteri
