the 12 week year.
I'm not really convinced that annual goals are a good way to get things done. They’re slow, vague, and often just not urgent enough to really motivate us. But this year I've been trying a different strategy; working in 12-week sprints.
It's a short enough time period to create urgency, but long enough to allow for real progress. There’s not really time to procrastinate. No “someday” in 8 months. It’s now or never.
Every 12 weeks, I hit reset. I choose 1–3 things to move the needle.
Not 10 goals. Not 47 tasks. Just a clear, focused sprint.
Here’s a simple way to try it:
✍️ The 12-Week Mini Plan
1. What matters most right now?
→ Pick 1–3 goals that actually move your life forward.
2. Why does this matter to me?
→ One short sentence. Emotion beats logic.
3. What would “done” look like in 12 weeks?
→ Be specific. You should know when to celebrate.
4. What’s your weekly habit or action?
→ Break it down. Make it measurable.
This Week’s Prompt:
If this was the final quarter of the year… what would you finally start?
The clock’s ticking. In a good way.
See you next Sunday,
