good to you, not good for you.

good to you, not good for you.

Not everything that feels good to you is actually good for you.

Junk food is the obvious example here. It’s tasty and comforting, but that does not mean it is nourishing. Not everything we take in is good for our development:

  • Gossip feels good to you in the moment, but it isn’t good for your relationships.
  • Scrolling endlessly on social media feels good to you when you’re bored, but it isn’t good for your self-esteem.
  • Procrastination feels good to you when you delay, but it isn’t good for your future self.

The trap is thinking “good to me” automatically means “good for me.”

It doesn’t. More often than not, the things that truly move your life forward feel uncomfortable at first: Working out, saving money, having the hard conversation.

Short-term comfort. Long-term cost.
Or short-term effort. Long-term gain.

The choice is always there.

This Week’s Prompt:

What’s one thing in your life right now that feels good to you but isn’t good for you, and what could you replace it with that’s better for you?

See you next Sunday,
