celebrate the small stuff.
I often used to think that celebrations were only for big events, a promotion, a degree, some kind of significant life milestone. But recently I’ve noticed that there’s a lot to be said for celebrating the smaller wins that come our way.
This past month was extremely busy at work, I felt very grateful for making it through August in one piece. But instead of just pushing ahead into September like nothing happened, I decided to take a moment and celebrate the small victory.
Yesterday morning I took me dad out to drink some coffee and look at cars. We wandered around an uptown dealership filled with Aston Martins and Ferraris, sipping our lattes and talking about the designs of the beautiful machines around us, even though neither of us could afford any of them. The whole experience probably lasted less than an hour, but it was extremely fun and it made the morning feel significant.
Moments like these are easy to skip. You tell yourself you’ll celebrate “when it’s bigger” or “when it really counts.” But the truth is, if you don’t practice celebrating the small stuff, the big stuff never feels as satisfying either.
Celebration isn’t about the size of the win. It’s about taking a moment to say: I worked hard, this mattered, and life is better because of it. Plus, it’s also a good excuse to spend some time with the people who support you in what you do.
This Week’s Prompt:
What’s one small win you’ve had recently that you could celebrate, not later, but now?
Pause. Mark it. Go celebrate it.
See you next Sunday,
Arteri
